The Farm Next Door

“Why do I keep thinking about the fact that Mother
won’t be home tonight? I won’t miss her if I’m asleep.”
That is what Betty asked herself as she pedaled home from school. She felt she was too big to be bothered so much by Mother’s absence. Grandma needed help, so Mother would be there for the night. Yet no matter how much Betty berated herself, the aching sensation refused to go away.
There were many busy, happy days for the Hiebert
family when they moved to the house next to Grandpa’s farm. But there were struggles too. Life was teaching Betty about the “pathway of light” that always reaches from God’s loving heart to His struggling children.
